Advanced treatment approaches

Once you have a proper diagnosis, the spine team will work together to develop your personalized treatment plan. It may include nonsurgical treatment, minimally invasive surgery or complex surgery.

Nonsurgical treatments may include epidural steroid injection, medial branch block injection, facet rhizotomy, or physical and occupational therapy.

Minimally invasive techniques are used whenever possible, resulting in smaller or fewer incisions (often less than one inch), faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay. Some patients even go home the same day. Minimally invasive options may include tubular decompression, minimally invasive fusions (TLIF/XLIF), percutaneous implant placement and kyphoplasty.

Spine surgery treatments include:

  • Spinal fusion
  • Scoliosis surgery
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Laminectomy surgery
  • Kyphoplasty
  • Artificial disc replacement

Continuity of care

The spine team at Northern Dutchess Hospital is committed to an integrated care approach, which means that you and your primary care or referring physician will be part of the care team. The entire team works closely together through each stage of evaluation, treatment and recovery.
