Putnam Hospital Center’s Golf Tournament to benefit Integrative Health program for breast patients

Posted: 9/6/2019

The Putnam Hospital Center Foundation and the Rojas family present the return of the Dr. Gil & Lyda Rojas Memorial Golf Tournament.

Proceeds from the event will benefit breast cancer patients who use the Integrative Health suite at Putnam Hospital Center.

In 2017, the Integrative Health program opened offering holistic therapies to breast cancer patients as they undergo surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Services include massage therapy, reflexology, Reiki, in addition to yoga classes specifically tailored for patients who have had breast surgery. More than 600 treatments are administered each year. Charitable contributions help to keep the program in operation.

The golf tournament will take place on Monday, Sept. 23, at the Mahopac Golf and Beach Club, 601 N Lake Blvd., Mahopac. Registration opens at 10 a.m. followed by lunch at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The awards dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Dr. Gil Rojas joined the hospital when it opened its doors in 1964 and remained an active surgeon for 28 years. After his passing in 1992, his wife, Lyda Rojas, devoted her attention to building a chapel in the hospital so visitors could have a place of solace and prayer in their time of need.

Their legacy of medical care and charitable works for the community continue with the golf tournament that began in 1998.
