Putnam Hospital Center and healthcare workers of 1199SEIU to stand together and condemn budget that would make draconian cuts to Medicaid

What: Rally and Action Center to protest proposed state Medicaid cuts

Who: Putnam Hospital Center and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East

Why: Putnam Hospital Center is hosting a rally with the healthcare workers of 1199SEIU to protest the $550 million in cuts to Medicaid funding proposed in the state’s 2019-2020 fiscal budget. Due to federal matching funds that support Medicaid, the healthcare industry is projecting a total loss of $1.1 billion. This funding shortage would devastate the ability of hospitals, health systems and nursing homes to provide quality services to their patients and communities.

When: Noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7

Where: Putnam Hospital Center, 670 Stoneleigh Ave.

Rally in Atrium: Noon — 1 p.m.
