Nephrologist joins Carmel Health Quest Medical Practice

Posted: 12/16/2019

Nephrologist Dr. Michael Capicotto has joined Health Quest Medical Practice in its Division of Primary Care. Capicotto is seeing patients in the Carmel office at 150 Route 52.

“I look forward to developing relationships with new patients and their families, welcoming my long-standing patients to HQMP and bringing nephrology to the practice,” he said. “I have personally seen how kidney disease affects both the individual as well as their family. My own father was on hemodialysis for four years. I treat my patients how I would treat my own family.”

Capicotto has been in practice for more than 17 years, having most recently worked at Northern Medical Specialists in Carmel. He also served as the medical director of the inpatient hemodialysis service at Putnam Hospital Center. Hemodialysis uses a dialysis machine and a special filter called an artificial kidney, or a dialyzer, to clean the patient’s blood.<

Capicotto completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology at Brown University Medical School in Providence, RI. He is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology.

Capicotto earned his medical degree from the State University of New York’s Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY. He received his bachelor’s degree in science from the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Bronx, NY.
