Health Quest’s Vassar Brothers Medical Center and Northern Dutchess Hospital were recently named 2014 Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, an independent nonprofit accreditor of U.S. healthcare organizations.

The Joint Commission recognized only 31.5 percent of hospitals in the nation based on how they performed on last year’s healthcare quality measures. The Top Performer program provides transparency to the public and identifies hospitals that delivered the appropriate medical treatment in the correct manner and at the right time.

Vassar Brothers in Poughkeepsie was recognized in the specialties of: Treatment of Pneumonia, Treatment of Heart Attack, Treatment of Heart Failure, Surgical Care, Immunizations and Perinatal Care. Northern Dutchess’ honors included: Treatment of Pneumonia, Treatment of Blood Clots, Treatment of Stroke and Surgical Care.

“We’re thrilled the data reviewed by The Joint Commission speaks to our commitment to best practices in medicine as well as our mission to enhance quality and raise the bar for the care of patients in our community,” said Dana Curry, Health Quest’s assistant vice president of quality and improvement.

Top Performers are published on the Joint Commission’s and in the “Improving America’s Hospitals” annual report.
