Health Quest family medicine providers join Kingston location

Posted: 5/1/2019

Two providers recently joined Health Quest Medical Practice’s primary care location in the Kingston Plaza.

A family medicine physician, Dr. Umara Saleem has been serving the Kingston medical community since 2015. She completed the Mid-Hudson Family Medicine Residency Program at the Institute for Family Health in September and received the program’s Excellence in Pediatrics award.

“I love making connections with new patients and their families, and hope to empower them to set health goals, stay motivated and achieve great results,” said Saleem of Kingston, who is a summa cum laude graduate of American University of Antigua with a doctorate in medicine.

A certified lactation consultant, she is passionate about women’s and pediatric health, immigrant health, substance abuse treatment and academic medicine. She also volunteers with O+ in Kingston.

Also new to the practice is family nurse practitioner Maryanne Lyons. She spent two decades as a registered nurse, then completed her master’s degree in nursing from Newburgh-based Mount Saint Mary’s College. The program included more than 600 hours of nurse practitioner hands-on training throughout the mid-Hudson Valley.

“I love to take care of people, from the littlest to the oldest,” said Lyons of Gardiner, who has spent the bulk of her career at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. “I never specialized in one area of nursing. I enjoyed it all, which is why family medicine is the right fit for me.”
