Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center to honor 2 physicians at Diamond Gala

The Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center will honor obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Jed Turk and internal medicine physician Dr. Imtiaz Mallick at its 28th Diamond Gala.

The annual event is Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and a formal program. The event co-chairs are Joyce and Dr. Lawrence Zolnik and Drs. MaryEllen and Robert Dean.

“Dr. Turk and Dr. Mallick are dedicated to the practice of quality healthcare at Vassar Brothers Medical Center,” said Sarah Johnstone Levine, chair of the Foundation for Vassar Brothers Medical Center. “The 2017 Diamond Gala is our opportunity to celebrate these two exceptional members of our medical community for their contributions to the medical center’s impressive progress.”

The two honorees are recognized for their strength as leaders serving the medical staff and their outstanding commitment to providing quality care to patients in our community.

Turk is an obstetrician-gynecologist at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he graduated from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and continued his training with a residency at Maimonides Medical Center, a SUNY affiliate, in Brooklyn. Turk serves as medical director of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology and chairman of the board of directors for Health Quest Medical Practice. He joined the medical practice in 2008 after being in private practice locally for 15 years. He and his wife, Stella, have three grown children.

Mallick is an internal medicine physician on the medical staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. A native of Karachi, Pakistan, Mallick attended Arlington High School in LaGrangeville, N.Y., prior to attending King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. He went on to complete an internal medicine internship and residency at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. In 1994, he returned to Dutchess County to begin a solo practice in Fishkill. He now serves as an attending physician, chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, and associate vice president of medical affairs at Vassar Brothers. Mallick and his wife, Nayyar, have two children.
