Cardiologist Dr. Rajeev Narayan joins The Heart Center

After spending several years in New Jersey, cardiologist Dr. Rajeev Narayan is back in the Hudson Valley.

Narayan has joined The Heart Center and is seeing patients out of the center’s Poughkeepsie office and Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

"I am excited to return to the Hudson Valley, an area where my father, a prominent cardiologist himself, also served this great community for many years,” Narayan said. “Following in his footsteps and combining my advanced training, I look forward to bringing new technologies to the region for patients with complex heart disease."

Narayan grew up in Westchester County and his father, Dr. Ramaiyer Narayan, worked as director of medicine at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers and as a cardiologist at the VA Hospital in Montrose.

Narayan most recently worked in interventional cardiology at Westwood Cardiology Associates- Valley Medical Group in Westwood, NJ. He also served on the faculty at both Hackensack University Medical Center and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

Narayan earned his bachelor’s degree from Drew University in Madison, NJ and his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

He continued his education with an internal medicine residency at Columbia University Medical Center in New York and fellowships in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular diseases at Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Narayan also completed a vascular diagnostic and intervention fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Narayan is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and vascular medicine. He has extensive research experience with several investigational trials currently underway, as well as publications in several medical journals.
