Attitude is an important driver of successful aging in late adulthood, according to social worker Allison Gould.

Yet for many people, getting older presents significant challenges, and can trigger feelings of anxiety, depression and grief.

“You can ease transitions of any kind with a good support system,” said Gould, who leads the Adjustment to Aging therapeutic support group for seniors at the Center for Healthy Aging. The center is on Northern Dutchess Hospital’s campus, 6529 Springbrook Ave. This eight-session therapy group will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays, starting June 1.

If you need help coping with changes in your life, or are looking for support to see the positive side to getting older, or simply want to connect with other people going through a similar experience, we invite you to participate.

Medicare covers the cost of group therapy. Co-pays are the responsibility of the participant. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact the Center for Healthy Aging and schedule a confidential interview at 845-876-4745.
