Is it a cold or the flu?

By Shantala Sonnad, MD  |  12/11/2017

The flu affects 5-20% of the U.S. population each year, but many people are still unclear on the symptoms. There are thousands of searches conducted each month on the differences between the flu and a common cold. This search query spikes, unsurprisingly, between December and February. While flu symptoms are often similar to those indicating a cold, there are major differences between the two. The visual below will help you tell the two apart, once and for all.

Remember: The best way to fight the flu this season is to get your flu shot! Visit one of our Health Quest Urgent Care locations for the shot, then share your photo with the hashtag #FightTheFlu to encourage friends and family to keep our community healthy! Getting a flu shot protects you and others around you.
