As with any cancer, early detection can offer the best chances of survival. That’s why we offer a full range of state-of-the-art cancer diagnostic services including:

  • MRI and Ultrasound Imaging can scan any angle of the body to create clear, highly detailed images.
  • Nuclear Imaging can determine and evaluate activity within various organs and organ systems. During the test, very small amounts of radioactive material are introduced into the body and briefly tracked and observed.
  • Genetic Screening is available for patients with cancer or a family history of colon, pancreatic or other gastrointestinal cancers. To learn more about these services, see Genetic Counseling.

Health Quest Medical Practice surgeons, led by colorectal specialists Dr. James Nitzkorski, Dr. John Choi and Dr. Pranat Kumar routinely perform complex surgeries and specialize in treating advanced rectal cancer. Procedures include:

  • Colon and Rectal Surgery uses advanced, minimally invasive techniques to remove colorectal cancer and polyps, and in many cases can avoid the need for permanent stomas. Function-preserving operations are frequently performed.
  • Liver Surgery and Nonoperative Treatment Options are available to treat the liver’s complex network of blood vessels and bile ducts, which make operating on this organ exceptionally demanding. Nonoperative options include radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation and chemoembolization (TACe) for the treatment of liver cancer and metastatic tumors.
  • Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery can be performed without the need to make large incisions and can spare nerves that control sexual function. Procedures include a protocol for a completely scarless transanal endoscopic mucosal (TEM) resection.
  • da Vinci® Robotic Surgery provides even greater vision, dexterity and precision compared to standard minimally invasive surgery techniques. This allows our surgeons to perform a wider range of procedures. To learn more, see Robotic Surgery.
