Become a Northern Dutchess Hospital volunteer.

Northern Dutchess Hospital (NDH) could not exist without the generous support of our volunteers who selflessly give their time, talents and energy to be of service to others. Our volunteers spend more than 30,000 hours per year working in virtually every department at NDH as well as in our residential facility, the Thompson House.

We offer a range of volunteer opportunities and invite you to join our team. See below for a few examples of volunteer positions, and then download an application, fill it out and send it in.

The volunteer coordinator at NDH and the Thompson House will match the current needs of the organization to your skills and interests. This ensures a fulfilling and productive volunteer assignment. If all of our roles are filled, we will keep your volunteer application on file for six months and will notify you if a position that fits your interests opens up.

Volunteers serve in both patient and non-patient care areas of the hospital, including front desk, gift shop, thrift shop, clerical areas and pet therapy.

Join the NDH Auxiliary

Another great way to serve is to join the Northern Dutchess Hospital Auxiliary. The Auxiliary runs the hospital’s Gift Shop and Thrift Shop and sponsors fun community events that raise funds for the hospital.

If you would like to join the Auxiliary, please contact Lois Chenkus, Auxiliary President at (845) 758-1714.

NDH Mothers'Club

The Mothers' Club is a not-for-profit group of volunteers who raise funds to benefit women and children receiving care at Northern Dutchess Hospital. Since 1954, the club has contributed over $500,000 to the hospital by hosting elegant dinner dances, silent auctions, fashion shows and other fundraising events. The Mothers’ Club also collects toys for children undergoing tests or care at the hospital. In recent years, funds have supported the following programs: the Commemorative Wall in the Neugarten Birth Center, where members can commemorate a birth or pay tribute to a person; W.H.A.L.E (We Have A Little Emergency), which supports child car seat identification; and That's Using Your Head, which supports the usage of child bicycle helmets and Santa's Day fundraiser.
